For those who love the large window on the Vortex Defender XL, it’s been given another option for people to choose from Until now, this extra-large window red dot was available in 5 and 8 MOA dot sizes. With this newest announcement from Vortex, you will soon be able to purchase a 2 MOA version of the Defender XL.
Why a smaller dot on the Defender XL?
This finder dot size is much better for competitive shooters, hunters and those needing a more precise dot. While the dot size is smaller on this newest version of the Defender XL, everything else is the same.
This means you still have the large viewing window for fast target acquisition and field of view. The aspherical lens provides a distortion-free sight picture and truer colors as well.
As we have mentioned in previous reviews, the Vortex uses a Shockshield polymer insert to help protect against daily abuse. The optic has motion activation with a 10-minute shutoff and re-activates automatically when it senses movement.
The Defender line already has three sizes of optics: CCW, Defender, and Defender XL. With this newest version, you will now have three choices of dot size just in the Defender XL alone.
